Additional Course Information:
This 2-part Blended Learning BLS course is offered through the American Red Cross (ARC) and satisfies Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) workplace safety certification requirements. This course combines the flexibility of online training with an instructor-led skills check. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the online portion (accessed via mobile, desktop, or tablet) must be completed prior to attending the instructor-led skills session.
If you are not a healthcare professional, your employer may not require a BLS certification as this is a more advanced level of CPR training. Please confirm which certification is required with your employer prior to registering; as we do offer Adult/Pediatric CPR/AED and CPR/AED/First Aid classes that will meet the needs of most CNA’s, daycare workers and the general public.
This BLS course provides prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, in-facility hospital providers and other public safety professionals the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adult, children and infant patients.
BLS courses train participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This course reflects science and education from the American Red Cross Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). The American Red Cross BLS course is accepted in the State of Florida for all licensed medical professionals and meets the standards of the Department of Health. However, some employers may require an American Heart Association certification. It is your responsibility to ensure your employer will accept an American Red Cross Certification prior to enrolling for this course.
Certification Card Information:
Upon successful completion of this course a valid 2-year digital certificate for BLS is issued through the ARC. ARC courses offer a digital certification, an online version of an ARC certificate, which provides anytime, anywhere access to student training history and course certificates. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed, or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your ARC account. Each certificate includes a unique ID and a QR code which meets employment requirements and allows employers to easily confirm your certificate is valid. There is no need to carry your printed certificate around anymore!
Your digital certificate will be sent via email from no-reply@redcross.org to the person/business purchasing your course, unless requested otherwise. You can look up your certification at https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/digital-certificate. Please allow our office up to 5 Business Days to issue certification cards, although it never takes that long.
Registration and payment must be completed BEFORE class in order to reserve a seat. Please give our office a call at 863-680-1277 ext 1002 to check availability after online registration closes.
PLEASE NOTE, RESUSCITATION MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL IN-PERSON CPR COURSES. CPR MASKS ARE A PIECE OF REUSABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, USED TO HELP PREVENT THE TRANSFER OF BODY FLUIDS FROM MOUTH TO MOUTH, WHILE STILL ALLOWING YOU TO ADMINISTER AID SWIFTLY AND EFFECTIVELY. IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR OWN IT MUST BE PROPERLY CLEANED AND SANITIZED AHEAD OF TIME.
More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur in the United States each year outside of the hospital. Bystander CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival but unfortunately less than 46% receive CPR prior to arrival of emergency personnel. Increasing awareness and education in the community can increase this percentage. Citizen CPR Inc. is the only Non-Profit agency in Polk County, Florida whose focus is providing CPR, AED & First Aid Training courses in the community.
Citizen CPR is an approved distributor of the Philips® AED and Zoll® AED product-line of automated external defibrillators (AED). For more information regarding equipment or supplies, please visit https://citizencprinc.org/purchase-aed/ or contact us at 863.680.1CPR (1277).
